Nana and Grandaddy

While MG was at Twin Lakes, Ben, Annie and I spent the week with Nana and Grandaddy.  Sunday night we ate hibachi.  We had a good week playing ping pong, board games, working on a puzzle, and swimming in the neighborhood pool.  Nana and Annie worked on a sewing project.  We also visited the Children's Museum.

A Busy Week in June

The following week, we went to Southaven for Harry Potter book club, helped set up for VBS and MG packed for camp.  We had Harry Potter themed food as usual.  I made Dobby the House Elf out of chocolate chip cream cheese dip.  Mainly we spent that week waiting for the HVAC repairman to arrive to install our thermostat that had been back ordered since March (remember when we went camping in the snow at Monte Sano because our heat wasn't working?).  The thermostat was so completed that after two days of trying he gave up and referred us to a different company.  They eventually decided the new thermostat was bad and was able to go around the fancy communication system and install a regular thermostat.  Thankfully we got both units back working because June has been HOT.

Annie and MG have a pool game where Annie is the queen and MG is her servant.  They spend hours pretending in the pool.

MG’s Birthday

Mollie Grace celebrated her 12th birthday the same weekend as Annie's dance recital so that was a busy weekend.  MG's gift from us was a mountain bike like Ben's.  To get the color we wanted, we drove to Birmingham the week before a purchased it so it wasn't a surprise.  She enjoyed getting letters from both Granddaddy and MawMaw Wilma.

Dance Recital

Annie's dance recital was the first Saturday in June.  There are two one hour acts and she had one dance in each act.  She is in both ballet 2 (blue dress) and ballet 3 (red dress).  We were not supposed to take pictures at the recital so most of the pictures are from rehearsal the night before.  However, a church friend who had great seats took numerous pictures of her ballet 3 performance (there are 4 kids from our church in that class) and sent them to me.

 

Memorial Day Camping

Memorial Day weekend we camped at Monte Sano.  The plan was for John and Ben to do some mountain bike riding but John kept popping tubes on his bike.  (He visited the bike shop the next week and now has the correct type.  Hopefully this won't happen again.)  Even though it was May, it's cooler on Monte Sano and we all were thankful for jackets at night.  Note what Annie considered appropriate hiking attire in that last pic.

I accidentally book a campsite without a sewage hookup so we had to shower in the bathhouses.  Yuck.  Tuesday morning when I was dressing at home, I realized I left my toiletry bag in the bathhouse.  While this was annoying I wasn't concerned.  I called Monte Sano and confirmed that it was in lost and found.  I planned to pick it up later in the week when I took Annie to the Orthopedic Center.  However a few hours later I remembered my wedding rings were in the bag!  In a panic, I hurried to Monte Sano (about a 40 minute drive).  Thankfully, my rings were still in it!
