10 Days

It seems like I was posting three times a week for a while but then I fell off the wagon.  Here's some things that have been going on for the past 10 days.

 Mollie Grace was super proud of this castle she built in the sandbox and wanted me to take her picture with it.

 Saturday afternoon John rented a tiller from Home Depot and prepared a garden spot for us.  Monday evening we planted our garden (with help from Sophie) -- 4 tomatoes, 3 squash, 1 cucumber, 1 zucchini, 1 eggplant, and a watermelon that Ben talked me into buying.

 Tuesday was a busy day with our end of year CC program at lunch and a baseball game in the evening.  Nana and Grandaddy came and watched both events.

Mollie Grace loves the games when she has friends to play with.  Sarah Grace's brother was playing on another field.

Below is Ben batting at three different games.  I left in a video of him striking out at one game just to keep it real.  I did edit out a big argument between coaches about whether he was out at first on one hit.

Turkey

John killed this gobbler this morning.  There was no one at the camp to take a picture so he took these turkey selfies.  He knows I've got to have pictures for the blog book.

Ben took these pics of a bird's nest with eggs that he and Silas found in a tree in Silas' backyard.

Cinderella

This morning attended Cinderella performed by Ballet Memphis at the Orpheum.  Mollie Grace knew she had just the right outfit for a ballet.  She wanted Annie to be dressed fancy as well.

 This was our first trip to the Orpheum.  They were very impressed.  They weren't sure they should really sit on this chair.

 This is the scene where the prince's men are trying the slipper on all the women.  This was an educational performance intended for school field trips.  It was cool because the choreographer came out during intermission and answered questions.  They opened the curtains between the second and third acts and explained how the sets were created and moved.

 The performance ended near lunchtime.  I had packed a picnic lunch.  Since it was cool and overcast today we opted to eat our lunch at the Children's Museum and spend the afternoon playing there.

While Ben and Mollie Grace were doing school work this morning, Annie was playing with her babies -- Sally and Lion Baby.  I took a few pictures while she played.

Go Karts and Shelby Farms

Rather than having a big birthday party, Ben wanted to go to the Autobahn Indoor Speedway, an indoor go kart track with electric karts that can go up to 50 mph.  You have to be 8 to drive so we had to wait until after his birthday.  Last Saturday he had a morning soccer game and afternoon baseball practice.  We decided to make a mid-week trip.  When we got there, there were no other kids (not surprising) so he made a couple of runs around the track by himself. Amazingly, another kid arrived and he got to race.

 We were just a couple of miles from a cool park I had been wanting to visit so we had a picnic lunch at Shelby Farms.

When we got home, there was mail for Annie, awesome new throw pillows made by Nana.
