Our 2011 Blog Book is finished and ordered. I'm sure there are still errors but I couldn't look at it again.

Hot Dogs

I think this is my favorite camping picture.  They are roasting hot dogs for supper. 

I'll post the beach pictures tomorrow.  I need to proofread my blog book today and get to bed soon.  I have lots of VBS prep to do tomorrow.



Camping Art?

 The kids spent a lot of time at the campsite coloring and drawing. After swimming, they painted with watercolors while the men started a fire to cook supper on.

Ben said that he's painting his imagination.

Swimming

Where we camped was once a private RV park that has been purchased by the state.  There was a swimming pool on site.  Since MV goes to the beach frequently, she was more excited about the pool than the beach so we spent the second afternoon at the pool.



Beach Camping Trip

For months we've been planning a camping trip at Topsail State Park near Destin.  Jim, Fran, MV and Janey borrowed a tent and joined us.  The kids were so excited just to be together.  I didn't take any stunning photos.  Just a lot of pictures of the kids having fun together.  I'll post a few tonight and try to finish up later in the week.

 The first night we picked up pizza for supper, but we had to have a campfire for roasting marshmellows and making Smores.

Ben and Mollie slept great together on a queen sized air mattress.  They both went to sleep easily and slept through the night all three nights.  They woke up about 6:45 each morning. 

Golfers

I've been working on my 2011 blog book and haven't posted much lately.  Here are some pics that I took more than a week ago.  Nana and Grandaddy dropped by on their way to Mary Varner's dance recital.  They brought a golf set for Ben and Mollie.

Game Over

Last Thursday night was Ben's last tee ball game of the season.  I had no idea the season would end so quickly.  He had a great time playing tee ball and is already talking about next year.  His team celebrated after the game with ice cream cones.

Llama, Llama

 It's been more than a week since I posted.  Last Thursday, we went to our monthly Zoo Tots class.  Ms. Krissy read one of Mollie's favorite books, Llama Llama Red Pajama and we petted the zoo's two llamas, Patches and Trixie.  This is Patches.

 Then they made llama art.

 They glued real llama hair to a picture of a llama.  Yuck!

Ben was very considerate.  We normally ride the carousel at the zoo, but he decided to ride the train this months instead because Mollie loves choo choos.  She was thrilled.

Rally Night

Last Sunday night was Rally Night at church. Rally night is a time for the children to demonstrate what they've learned during the past year by reciting memory verses, singing songs, and reciting catechism. Ben's class answered the first five questions in the children's catechism and sang two songs.


1. Who made you? God
2. What else did God make? All things.
3. Why did God make you and all things? For his own glory.
4. How can you glorify God? By loving Him and doing what He commands.
5.  Why are you to glorify God?  Because He made me and takes care of me.

More fans

 On Saturday, Mama, Aunt Connie, Cara, Aubrey and Ella Kate came to Ben's baseball game.

 Mollie and Aubrey ate their first snow cones at the ball park.

I forgot to take a group picture.  I'm blaming Aunt Connie, who ran out of gas at the ball park.  John had to go buy a gas can and fill it with gas to get her going. (Cara took this picture with her phone.)

Fans

Ben had lots of fans at the game tonight.  Fran, MV, and Janey were passing through and were able to stop and watch the game.  Nana and Grandaddy drove down to watch the game and hang out with all the grandchildren together.  I wish I had videoed Ben's first time at bat tonight.  He was so busy waving at us that he nearly missed first base.  He played well and fielded three balls.

After the game we all enjoyed dinner together at a Mexican restaurant.  It was a fun time. 

Beds

For several months, I've been planning to move Mollie out of her crib in May.  I wanted to take the rails from Ben's bed and move them to the full-sized bed in Mollie's room.  Ben has resisted that idea.  I finally decided to just buy a second set of rails for Mollie.  I looked at Wal-Mart on Monday and they only had single rails.  Tuesday morning, I told Ben that it was May 1. He said, "Mollie is moving into her big bed."  I told him, "No, I couldn't find the rails for her bed so she'll have to wait until I can find rails." He declared that she could have the rails from his bed.  I immediately went and took the rails off his bed.  I had a single rail that was originally on the outside of Ben's bed so I put it on the inside because he once fell between the mattress and the wall and scared me to death.  He's really proud of his bed without the outside rail. He's also very proud of himself for giving his rails to Mollie.  This picture is of his first nap without his rails.  He really was sleeping like this. He just collapses at naptime.
 

Although I moved the rails on Tuesday, Mollie spent one more night in her crib so that I could wash all of the bedding on the full-sized bed.  Plus, I didn't want to miss the "last night in her crib" photo op.

 Mollie was super-excited about sleeping in the big bed Wednesday night.

 I slipped back into her room before I went to bed to check on her.  She was sound asleep.

She slept great last night, so I took down the crib this morning.  Her room feels HUGE.
