Picture Week

This is the most pictures I've taken and posted in a week in a long time.

Homecoming dress up week continued Thursday at NCS.  NY vs LA.  Ben is a New York business man.

Annie was proud of herself for putting together this Noah's ark puzzle.

Today was Spirit Day and Ben wore his Homecoming t-shirt.

John took Ben to school today in the Corvette.

Some of our CC group went to Cedar Hill Farms today.  It's a little early for picking pumpkins, but we chose to go today because Cedar Hill Farms is hosting a Civil War re-enactment this weekend and a small group of re-enactors participated in a minor skirmish today for kids to watch.  Our group is learning about American History this year so it was a cool learning experience.

A Union soldier told us about conditions during the war.  The miles they walked and the type of food they ate.  He showed us hardtack and fat back.  He also showed us how he loads his gun.

 Train ride.

After the skirmish, the re-enactors were very nice to answer questions and let the kids look at their weapons.

 Choosing their pumpkins.

The soldiers' encampment that we could see from the hay ride.

Recent

Dress up week continues at NCS.  Today was favorite childhood character.

Ben brought home his Tundra triorama that he made in Science.  I helped him print out pictures of the animals to color but he worked on this at school by himself.

This is the information included in the triorama.

Yesterday afternoon Mollie Grace and Annie set up a sister campsite in the backyard and pretended to be camping.  The pile of orange things is their fire.

Random Pics

I found some random pics on my camera mixed in with the 100s of videos of Ben's diecast cars racing.

Annie was proud of putting this US map puzzle together by herself.

Mollie Grace wanted me to take this picture of her balancing an eraser on her nose.

And then Annie wanted her picture taken too.

We watched this cool bird fluttering around our circle during breakfast one morning.  It landed on the corner of our house and sat there for a while.

Mollie Grace wanted to take a picture of this mermaid she drew before we had to erase the dry erase board.

Annie built this fort in her room.  Fort building is how we use old sheets.

Week 6

Mollie Grace blew this huge bubble while we were waiting on our grocery pick up at Wal-Mart.  And yes she did wear the Minnie Mouse ears in the store.

It's homecoming week at NCS and today's dress up theme is Greek vs Geek.  Ben chose to go Geek and even asked if we could go buy him glasses for his outfit.

Presentation today was tell something interesting you've learned about the body.  Annie brought a stethoscope and showed a picture of a heart.  Everyone got to listen to her heart through the stethoscope. (Annie's been wearing the cat ears since we bought them yesterday.  Including while she slept.)

We do 6 weeks of drawing followed by 6 weeks of tin whistle.  Today was our final drawing project.  We finished with The White House.

Annie's is middle left with the tiny windows.

I got this picture of Mollie Grace's class from Facebook.

CC Week 5

For Presentation today, they had to chose their favorite timeline card and tell the class about it.  Annie showed us a picture of George Washington, told us he was the first president, and sang the president song (which lists the presidents from Washington to Trump).

We learned about how the skin sheds cells by rubbing sand paper on soap.

We learned about perspective drawing today and I led them through drawing the Washington Monument.

Annie's is bottom middle.  They had a lot of help from mama's using rulers to draw straight lines.

This is Mollie Grace's class.  Her's is top middle as well.  From Mollie Grace's presentation she chose Louis and Clark and told all about how they first encountered the Nez Perce Indians.  She is very interested in the Nez Perce because that is the American Girl Kaya's tribe and we've recently listened to the audiobooks.  She has practically memorized the historical sections at the end of the books and pretty much recited it to her class.

New Bike

Mollie Grace used her birthday money from MawMaw and PawPaw to buy this cool new bike.  It's a 20" just like Ben's.

The Week

Here are some random pics from around our house this week.

 This is Annie's puppet show.

Mollie Grace followed instructions from artprojectsforkids.com to draw this bird.

Annie followed instructions and drew this chick with some help (I drew the wings).

Mollie Grace has been drawing American Girl dolls and making magnets.  These are the new doll Nanea, Kaya, and Felicity.

Old Pool

A hole has developed in the ring around the top of our pool.  When we take it down this year, it will have to go in the trash.  Amazingly, we've had it four years.  John had a picture on his phone from the first time Ben and Mollie Grace swam in the pool. He had them recreate the picture on Saturday afternoon in what we thought would be our last swim in the pool.  Since the water stayed in it pretty well and it's supposed to be hot this weekend, they may get one more swim.

CC Week 4

We began the morning with a special prayer time for the people affected by Hurricanes Harvey and Irma.

Annie's presentation:  "This is a sheep God made."

"This is a dog God made."  And it continued on with a cat, duck, butterfly, fish, and finished with a picture of Ben and Mollie Grace.

Painting the abstract faces that they drew.

 Annie's is bottom right.

This is Mollie Grace's class learning their Latin.

All of their completed art projects.
