June Week 4

The last full week of June was busy with Talladega, horse riding lessons, and a visit from Mama, Cara, Aubrey, and Ella Kate.

Mollie Grace had horse riding lessons four Mondays in a row in June since she didn't get to attend pony camp this year.

This is our neighbor Brantley.

They were supposed to be getting ready for bed.

It rained and rained and rained while we had company, but Thursday afternoon we caught a couple of hours break in the rain and hiked at Monte Sano.

All five of them fell asleep in the car on the way home.

Annie thought she could sneak home with them for a visit.

Talladega

The April race at Talladega was postponed until June 21.  About 10 days before NASCAR announced that the race could be run with limited fans.  Only 5000 tickets were sold.  You had to be an Alabama resident, live within 150 miles of the track, and have had tickets to the spring race or last year's fall race.  We met these requirements and quickly decided that we should get tickets for Ben and John.  Although we plan to attend the fall race there is no guarantee that fans will be allowed in the fall with all the Coronavirus craziness.  Ben and I looked at a virtual seating map of Talladega and chose the best tickets we could find since they were all the same price.  When they arrived, it turned out that we chose amazing tickets one row from the top of the grandstands on the finish line.  There were a number of new regulations in place including carrying clear bags only, wearing masks, entering at a certain gate during an assigned time period, and having their temperature checked at the gate.

Rain on Sunday!  They spent about three hours hoping that the rain would stop but eventually the race was postponed until Monday.  John texted his boss and asked to be off Monday.

Jet dryers attempting to dry the track but the rain returned.

Monday lunch.  Another day of sandwiches in the car but it was worth it.

More rain!  But this time it cleared up, the track was dried, and they were able to return to racing.

A win for the #12 Ryan Blaney.

Annie and her friends were watching the race from the grandstands at home.

June Week 3

The third week of June was a calm week at home.  We did yard work.  Mollie Grace worked on knitting/crocheting a doll.

June Week 2

Sunday the girls were playing in the pool and I was sitting outside watching them.  The neighbors goats came wandering down to our yard.  We laughed watching them jump around on the rocks.  Then, one of the small goats ran towards the girls in the pool and jumped in!  The girls and I helped it out of the pool and it ran back to the rocks with the other goats.

Annie made her own roller skates.

Since Mollie Grace can't do pony camp this year, she's doing a lesson every Monday for the month of June.

Annie wrote a story about Sam and his new sister Alice.  I was amazed at the words that she spelled correctly.  I asked Annie how she knew how to spell them and she replied, "I asked Alexa."

Friday we went to Southaven for the first time in months to visit our friends.  The Dalombas were visiting from Atlanta.  We had Harry Potter book club for book 2 at the Ruckers.

Holding Gracie.

Ben spent the night with Ethan while the girls and I stayed with the Ruckers.

Friday night we had a CC mom night at Anna Price's house.

TEN!

We celebrated Mollie Grace's 10th birthday with cupcakes, swimming, roller blades, and several creative homemade gifts from Annie.
