VBS

The day after we got home from vacation, VBS started.  This year our curriculum was from Answers in Genesis and included a science experiment each day.  I was in charge of the science lesson and came in costume each day.  Tuesday was our best day with volcanoes.  We mixed up salt dough and built volcanoes.  Then we caused an eruption with vinegar, ketchup, and baking soda.  It required a ton of prep and the clean up with extreme but the kids loved it.  Mollie Grace was an assistant in the 5 year old group and Ben helped with activities.  VBS was only four days and we were exhausted.  Friday night John and the girls swam in the pool after supper.  Sunday Mollie Grace finally got to wear her new sunflower boots to church.

Topsail

We spent the third week of June at Topsail.  It was a really good week.  Everyone can put on their own sunscreen and get themselves ready to go to the beach now.  We had double red flags two days due to currents. One of those days Ben, Mollie Grace, and John rode trails on their bikes.  The trails were very sandy and difficult and John and Mollie Grace say never again. Mollie Grace enjoyed making sand sculptures every day.  I think her hedgehog was the best.  We rode back to the beach after supper just before dark most evenings and really enjoyed looking at the sky and taking pictures.  One day there was a big event on the beach where five sea turtles that had been caught by fishermen were released back into the ocean.  On Friday, Jim and his family spent the day with us.
