October -- Week 1

Tuesday Mollie Grace and I attended a class at Cook Museum.  We dissected a cow's eye.  I thought it was going to be gross but it ended up being fascinating.  We both enjoyed it.  Saturday was my birthday.  It pretty much rained all day. Ben took pictures of me opening presents.  Everyone thought I was 43 but really I'm 42. I also spent a lot of time working on Ben's printer determined to get it working.  Finally Sunday evening I successfully printed a 1 cm cube.  The most exciting cube ever!  The problem was a loose belt.

Oak Mountain/Talladega

The first weekend in October we camped at Oak Mountain and Ben and John went to the race at Talladega.  We hiked to the King's Chair, which is supposed to have the best views in the park.  The girls and I kayaked while Ben and John were at the race.  No spectators were allowed at the Saturday race we usually all attend.

End of September

I helped Ben finish assembling his 3D printer but the first test print failed.

Mollie Grace and Ben were super awesome older siblings and had a tea party with Annie.  Mollie Grace set the whole party up.
KK (neighbor friend) enjoys applying makeup.

Part of Annie's fort set up.  She's built a fort pretty much every weekday for a month.

The weather has cooled off and we did some schoolwork outside.

September -- Week 4

This is not Monte Sano or Oak Mountain.  This is in the pasture up the hill from our house.  The oldest son of our neighbors up the hill bought the house across from them.  They have six kids (four girls 7-11 and two little boys).  The girls were all playing in the rocks.

This is Ben's first time refereeing.  The kids were 6 and 7 years olds.  One of them said to Ben, "Watch I can turn a cartwheel." After he finished Ben said, "Good job. Now your team is throwing in the ball."

There were kids to match all these shoes playing upstairs in the playroom.

Ben's soccer team won their division -- 08 Gold -- at the Birmingham Bash. Front -- Ben, Landon, Rhett (who is in Ben's CC class), Omar, Noe, Edwin, Alex.  Back -- Lupito (whose hair never moves), Juan, Landon (there are two Landons), Cole, Oscar, John (who goes to church with us), and Mason.  Coaches Jason (Rhett's dad) and Ray (Oscar's dad).

We were in Vestavia Hills for the Sunday game and decided we should drive by the house where the Elders lived when John was little.

September -- Week 3

I'm always shocked to discover how much time has passed between blog posts.  We've finished out September and are now halfway into October.  Here are a few pics from the third week of September.  Mollie Grace had a horse riding lesson.  We had Marcie professionally groomed and the result was shocking. My class drew the Washington Monument in art.
