Trick or Treat

Since nothing trumps high school football around here, the town decreed that everyone should trick or treat tonight.  We've pretty much just treated today like Halloween.  We wore our Halloween clothes, decorated little pumpkins, carved a pumpkin, and of course trick or treated.

They were pretty grossed out by the insides of the pumpkin.

I did most of the carving, but Ben wanted to give it a try.

We are Maleficent, her crow, Aurora and a member of Kyle Busch's pit crew.  Ben wouldn't go with the Sleeping Beauty theme and be Prince Phillip.

Waiting to give candy to some of our first trick or treaters.

Ben posing for a picture as a pit crew tire changer.

Watching the trick or treaters coming down the street.

While John took Ben and Mollie through the neighborhood, Annie and I sat outside for a while and handed out candy.

This little crow was done with Halloween.  She's watching Cedarmont Kids.

Ben and Mollie returned from trick or treating with buckets of candy.

Raking Leaves

We were watching leaves falling as we were eating breakfast this morning.  Mollie said she wanted to rake up a big pile of leaves and jump in them.  That sounded like a good idea.  After I put Annie down for her nap, we began raking leaves.  They did a lot of playing but they also did a lot of work too and we got a lot of the leaves in the yard raked up and hauled into the woods.  Annie woke up from her nap before we were finished and joined us outside.

Weeks

I didn't realize it had been so long since I posted pics on my blog.  Ben's last flag football game was October 18.  They lost their final game.  The only game they lost all season.  We had one sports free weekend before soccer starts this Saturday.

Running through the tunnel made by the cheerleaders.

 Waiting for their trophies.

Receiving his trophy from his coach.

Last Saturday was John and Jim's 20 year class reunion.  John's favorite part was the family lunch at Jackson Prep.  We toured the campus.  The kids enjoyed seeing "where Daddy learned" (as Mollie said).

Nana had fun plans for Saturday afternoon.

Pulling up on the stairs beside Grandaddy.  We'll need the baby gate on the stairs by Christmas.

Heading to the evening reunion party.

I was using Mollie as a mannequin while I worked on my Halloween costume.

Annie had her one year well baby check up yesterday.  She didn't enjoy it.  She got four shots.  She was 20.2 lbs and 29 inches.  Her head was 18 1/2 inches  Her weight and height are in the 50th percentile.  Her head is in the 97th.

Annie's First Birthday

Today was Annie's first birthday.  Ben and Mollie were extremely excited about it and Annie was excited all day because they were.

Ben took this picture of the birthday girl as soon as I got her out of bed this morning.

He taped this birthday message on her bed.

I made this daisy cake for Annie's birthday.

Ben took this picture of me putting together the grocery cart from Nana and Grandaddy.

The grocery cart came in this big box.

Annie squealed and growled with excitement as we opened her cards.

 Singing Happy Birthday.

Getting help from Ben and Mollie to blow out the candle.

I gave Annie one whole petal from her daisy cake.  She wasn't quite sure what to do with it.

Once I cut a few small pieces off for her she was ready to eat cake.

Once she finished the small bites, she picked up the whole piece.

 And then the mess began.

Ben and Mollie each chose a gift for Annie.  Ben wrapped him himself.  Ben bought her a pink car that plays the ABC song when it rolls.

Mollie is unwrapping the gift she chose for Annie.

She bought Annie this baby doll.

Trying to show Annie how to unwrap a gift.

Playing with pretend fruit from Nana and Grandaddy.

We got her this Little People playset.
