Mollie Grace checked out a book from the library on hairstyles. She fixed my hair, while Annie fixed hers. Then following the instructions in the book, I managed my first successful French braids. Wednesday was Decades Dress Up Day at CC. You can tell that the boys in my class are way more willing to be silly than most of the girls are. I made Annie's poodle skirt myself. Ben's suit was a thrift store find as well as Mollie Grace's vest. Sunday afternoon was Mollie Grace's final show in the Alabama Winter Tournament series. She placed 2nd and 3rd. Her best finishes! I was not able to go because I was sick, probably COVID so I'm quarantined.

January Part 2
No one else at our house got COVID that week so we were able to return to CC the following Wednesday. I added the pic in my classroom, just because you can see how in the afternoon Annie likes to be part of the group. That weekend Ben went to ROOTS, a youth retreat our church participates in every January. While Ben was at ROOTS, Mollie Grace had her second horse riding competition of the winter. This time they rode inside. On Sunday nights we have LifeGroup at the Olivers' house. Their kids Sadie and Wes love Mollie Grace and Annie.
January Part 1
On New Year's Eve it was so hot that Ben was wearing shorts at midnight to do fireworks. January 2 we had tornado warnings. January 3, it snowed! Before we returned to CC, John and Ben spent a couple of days at the camp. The girls and I made crazy-flavored waffles for supper while they were gone. The girls have spent hours playing with the LEGO sets they got for Christmas. They have a dance set up at Annie's hotel using her LEGO people and the Harry Potter characters from Mollie Grace's set. The first day back at school was pj day. I included a pic of the boys in Ben's class, because they had made a plan and traded shirts for the day. Ben is wearing Rhett's shirt. That night Ben started running fever and tested positive for COVID. He spent several days quarantined in his room. He had fever one night and then felt tired for a couple of days. After the first day, he spent most of his time watching TV and playing XBox and texting me requesting room service. I just knew his whole class would get it, especially Rhett. However, no one did. While we were quarantined, Annie created a board game and began writing a musical. Her first song is a rap and it goes like this:
Hey, hey, hey. I'm a centaur. Hey, hey, I'm a centaur. Yay, yay. Not a pony. Not a horse. Not a unicorn that has no horn. Yay, yay. Oh yay. I map the stars. Oh look there's Mars. Ooh -- I'm not a cow. I don't go moo. I don't go cock-a-doodle-doo. I map and trap. I walk and talk. I never wear a saddle but I still never paddle. ever ever ever ever ever ever. I can sing. I can dance but I've never been to France. So I think you've got the point. So I'm going to stop now. So what do you need?
