March Continued

Last week Mrs. Kathy returned to CC as Mozart.

We have been listening to all the Ramona books by Beverly Cleary.  Annie created a Ramona Quimby comic to show at presentation.  Annie got the idea from Ben, who had to draw a comic strip for a book report project recently.

We broke a geode to learn about minerals.  There is geode in the sock that we are trying to break.  I eventually had to take it outside on the concrete and hit it good.

Mollie Grace also did her presentation about Ramona, but she created a cardboard doll house and characters from the book.

Orchestra study.

Annie had her first soccer practice.  Her new team is the Lil' Dragons.

Love my new pillow with all the zip codes where we've lived.

We went to the Children's Museum Friday afternoon.  For the first time in years I rode my own horse on the carousel.  I did not have to stand by Annie.

Annie is a way more enthusiastic dancer than Mollie Grace.

Saturday Ben had to complete his homework before Silas could come over and play.  He created this sped up video of himself doing homework to send to Silas.  They like to FaceTime and text each other on mine and Rosie's phones.

Spring Break

We kicked off Spring Break attending the first Memphis 901 FC soccer game.

 Making lots of noise.

Cool view from the parking garage.

Although Ben was out of school, we still had CC.  Mrs. Kathy (Lucy Kate and Emmeline's grandmother) dressed up as Johann Sebastian Bach's wife to teach us about Bach.

Listening to our orchestra pieces.  Annie and Emmeline are sharing a towel because we had unexpected visitors and I didn't have enough towels.

Ben worked on his most recent NASCAR stop motion race.  If you would like to watch his race video it's posted on his YouTube page:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ObcBXPammnU.

He also worked on a furniture painting project.  He painted a set of plastic shelves to use as a bedside table.

 Happy muddy knees.

On Friday, Ben requested Krispy Kreme donuts to finish off the week.

This is the playground at the Tanger Outlet (where the Krispy Kreme is located).

Whoops!  Tried to eat the pizza crust wrapper.

Saturday night we went to a birthday party for one of Ben's soccer team members.  I had to ask for help to make a taco.  I only recognized the tortilla.  Nothing like an American taco.

This is the very strange tasting (weirdly spicy) candy that was in the pinata.

March

March has started off busy.  Ben had a soccer tournament last weekend. It was freezing Saturday and pouring rain Sunday morning.  Thankfully all Sunday games were canceled.  Monday night he came down with the stomach virus and missed school Tuesday.  That means the girls and I missed CC as well.  Thankfully he was better by Wednesday because his class went on their big field trip to Jackson to visit the Capitol.  Today his class is doing an Oregon Trail project.  It was planned for Friday but there is a 100% chance of thunderstorms for Friday.  Next week is spring break!

I got these pics from another mom.  I was too cold to take pictures.

Saturday morning the girls and John stayed home while Ben and I went to soccer.

I found Annie asleep like this when I went to get her dressed to go to Ben's afternoon soccer game.

Annie built a big eye wagon for her big eye stuffed animals.

Ben's class got on the bus to go to Jackson at 5:45 a.m. yesterday.

Half of the 5th grade at the Governor's mansion.

I think this is the Senate.

The bus arriving back at school about 6:15 p.m.  Ben said they had a really fun day but the bus ride was very long and boring.

Annie put this puzzle together this morning.

Ben's teachers have posted several pictures from their Oregon trail adventure today.  They began their journey around the school about 9 a.m.  I think they were supposed to end with a picnic lunch at 11:30 a.m.

They have lunch in their wagons (including my crockpot with 8 foil wrapped hotdogs inside.  I secured the lid good with rubber bands).

End of February

One of my goals for 2019 was to somehow make the year go more slowly.  We're now the first week into March.  I don't think it's working.  Here are pictures from the end of February.

A couple of pictures Ben's math teacher shared on her class page.  They have new alternative seating in her classroom.

 Annie still loves puzzles.

Annie made this pattern block lion.

Mollie Grace and Marcie playing pony.

Ben has been working on a stop motion NASCAR race in his free time.

Doing the limbo while learning their history sentence at CC.

Examining crystals that we had grown in class.

 Suppertime after CC.

 Math helper.

Aubrey wrote Mollie Grace a letter, which inspired Annie and Mollie Grace to write letters.  Annie wrote to Reiny.

Mollie Grace wrote back to Aubrey.
