This Week

Sunday I dropped Ben off at Space Camp. John and I have been working on getting the inflatable pool ready for summer. Today the girls were able to get in for the first time. This is the second giant rat snake we’ve found in our yard! Annie is dressed for the theater (watching Harry Potter on the couch).

Last Week

Last week we visited Cook Museum with CC friends Wednesday afternoon and invited the Challenge classes over Friday afternoon so hang out. We also had a few younger siblings running around playing together.

Annie got a cookbook from the library and made meatballs for supper Friday night. Annie’s observations about meatballs: Meat doesn’t really feel bad it’s just kind of gross. Who knew there was bread in a meat ball. It’s not called a bread ball. I don’t really like eating leaves but since the recipe said to put it in I did.

Monte Sano

This weekend we camped at Monte Sano. John took Monday off so that we could have two days for hiking. Saturday we packed a lunch and went on a five mile hike on the McKay Hollow Trail. It’s one of the most difficult trails at Monte Sano. We started it once before and backtracked because we weren’t prepared for such a long hike.  We took two shorter hikes one before and one after lunch Sunday totaling another five miles. There is also a picture of Annie’s puppet show that she performed in the empty TV spot in the trailer bedroom.

Wednesday

I organized a hiking trip at Hurricane Creek Park for the Challenge classes Wednesday. It was one of those ideas that seemed great in my head but made me really nervous when all 15 teenagers, 6 younger siblings, and 10 parents gathered in the parking lot. But no one got hurt or lost. I counted heads numerous times. It was a fun afternoon. We finished the day with an end of year Children’s Ministry party at church.

Nana and Grandaddy

Nana and Grandaddy spent the weekend with us! Because of Covid we haven’t seen them much this last year. We went to the Rocket Center Saturday and to church together on Sunday.

Southaven

Last Wednesday we got rear ended on the way to church. Thankfully the damage was minimal and we were still able to go to Southaven on Thursday. We spent the afternoon with the Ruckers, Aldingers, Peacocks and Stegalls. Anna had some leftover tie dye supplies so we made shirts.

Riding Lesson

Mollie Grace had a great ride this morning on a horse she had never ridden before.  Mrs. Joyce took this video of her. He was a bit skittish and wanted to stop at doorways and people.  Mollie Grace was able to use her crop to keep him at a constant trot.
