Lost Tooth!

This has been a week of milestones for Annie.  She started Kindergarten, learned to ride her bike without training wheels, AND lost her first tooth!

She prepared this snack for the tooth fairy in her doll house.

She left a note for the tooth fairy asking that she not take her tooth.

Fun

The week wasn't all school work.

Ben ordered a NASCAR video game from 2004 for John's old Playstation.

We took the training wheels off Annie's bike and she's been practicing riding without them.

Mollie Grace had a horse riding lesson.  She cantered over the cross rails for the first time.

Friday afternoon we went to the zoo.

No matter how many times we go to the zoo they have to take a picture in the eggs.

On Saturday John and Ben went to Oxford for a soccer tournament.  Ben is on the far left in orange.

 It was HOT!

Enjoying a burger at Mugshots.

While the guys were sweating a soccer, the girls went to a birthday party.

First Day of CC

Tuesday was our seventh first day of CC.

I am not Annie's teacher this year.  This is her class with Mrs. Brittany.

 Art.

This is their drawings of Charlemagne.  Annie's is on the bottom right.

This year I am the tutor in Mollie Grace's class.  She said I am not as fun as Mrs. Chandra but it was okay.  I only took a few pictures in art because we were super busy all day and I didn't have time to take pics.

Mollie Grace's is on the top, third from the left.  No one took any pictures in Ben's class.  Ben created a Google Slides game about himself for his presentation.  You can play it at this link:  What Do You Know About Me?

First Week of August

John and Mollie Grace spent the first Saturday in August at the Cruisin' for a Mission car show at Longview Heights Baptist Church.  Annie and I took Ben to soccer practice.

Annie spent most of the week after the Harry Potter book club in character.

Mollie Grace even got out the Halloween paints and made her a scar.

The kids took this picture of Marcie with a comb over.

We started school work on Thursday.  At 7:55 Annie was already working on her Kindergarten workbook,

Mollie Grace was outside swinging . . .

and Ben was still in bed.  He was up and ready to do his school work at 8:15, though.

We listened to the first Harry Potter audiobook but Mollie Grace is determined to also read the book on her own. Nearly done.

 Kindergarten Day 2.

Annie loves when there are things to cut and glue in her activity book.

This Week

Ben and Marcie fell asleep on the couch Saturday night watching the race.

Sunday afternoon we drove to Jackson to visit Nana, Grandaddy, Fran, MV, and Janey.  Nana and Grandaddy took us to eat hibachi.  Both Grandaddy and Mollie Grace caught the scrambled egg in their mouth tossed by the cook.

I think the cook thought I should be fattened up.  I cannot possibly eat this much food!  Monday morning Annie woke up throwing up.  She and I spent the day quarantined upstairs.  Maybe Nana or Fran took some pics of the other kids playing.  They went to the park with Nana and then played on the slip-n-slide in the backyard.

Wednesday Silas and Piper spent the day with us.

Aunt Vivian sent doll clothes with Nana.  All of Annie's babies have new outfits.

In May we decided to have a Harry Potter book club this summer.  Today, August 1, we finally met to discuss the first book.  We colored, ate fun Harry Potter themed snacks, wore Harry Potter glasses, and discussed the book.

I made these Harry and Hedwig cupcakes.

Inside the "Sorting Hats" were colored beans that designate what house you're in.  Mollie Grace and I were Hufflepuffs (I am NOT a Hufflepuffs), Ben a Ravenclaw, and Annie a Gryffindor.

The kids (who ranged from 5-12) did a great job discussing the book.  No spoilers!  Some people had read all the books, some just book 1, others somewhere in the middle.  Lucy Kate learned that Voldemort isn't really dead at the end of Book 1 and was shocked (a small spoiler).

Anna wore her Harry Potter glasses the entire discussion.

Casting a spell with her chocolate covered pretzel wand!

And we came home to discover all three new backpacks from Nana and Grandaddy had arrived!
