CC Week 7

After a week off, we were back at CC yesterday.  It was our week for family presentation and both Ben and John were able to join us.  I intended to get someone to take a picture but forgot.  We shared 10 unusual facts about our family.

John -- He's an identical twin and he has three cars.

Ben -- He's starting the process of getting braces next week to pull his front teeth in and he's a big NASCAR fan.

Mollie Grace -- She's never gotten a real hair cut and her favorite food is tomato soup.

Annie -- She sleeps sideways in her bed with lots of blankets on top of her.

Rena -- We have a cat named Hal and I'm the only person her likes.  And I don't like cats.  I am a obsessed with taking pictures and I always carry my camera.  I don't take pictures with my phone because I still use a flip phone.

 First week of tin whistle.  We are all learning music theory together during morning assembly.

 Wear your team colors day.

 For presentation, they had to recommend a book.  Annie chose Pooh Gets Stuck.

 In science, we are learning about our bodies.  We're coloring organs and at the end of the fall semester we'll put it all together on a life-sized cut out.

Fall Break Camping

Ben is out of school Monday and Tuesday for fall break.  John took off Monday as well so that we could go camping.  The kids have been begging to tent camp, something we haven't done since we bought out trailer two years ago.  We booked a campsite at Tishomingo State Park.  However, Tishomingo was right in the forecasted path of Hurricane Nate.  Thunderstorms and and gusts of wind up to 40 miles of hour were predicted.  This would not work for tent camping.  Saturday afternoon, we decided to find another place to camp for the weekend.  After calling a couple of parks looking for a spot, we decided to go to George Cossar State Park at Lake Enid, which is only about an hour away.  Early on it seemed like this trip might be a bust.  After we got our tent set up, we realized the electricity wasn't working at our site.  We found a site where the electricity worked, then John, Ben, Mollie Grace, and I each picked up a corner of the tent and walked it down the road to the new site.  Once we got past this difficulty, we had a fun camping trip with nice, sunny weather.

When we arrived Saturday evening, there were deer everywhere.  We saw 12 does and this buck.

 Saturday afternoon John, Ben, and Mollie Grace played putt putt golf while Annie and I rested. 

 After putt putt and resting, we took a hike.

There was lots of bike riding, playing on the playground, a camp fire, roasting marshmallows for S'Mores and all the usual camping activities that we didn't photograph.

Disney on Ice

The girls and I went to a morning performance of Disney on Ice with friends today.  We had great seats near the ice in the corner where skaters stopped and interacted with the crowd.

 It "snowed" during the Frozen part of the performance.

Soccer and other activities

Mollie Grace had her friend Leila over to play Thursday.  They had a tea party lunch and then spent the afternoon dressing up and playing pretend.

Teddy on roller skates helped carry in the groceries Friday.

On Sunday afternoon Ben had a science project her had to complete for school.  It's called a rainbow jar.  They are learning about mixtures and solutions.  Today they brought a snack of trail mix and made Kool Aid in class.

We were off from CC this week so Mollie Grace and I worked on a sewing project she's been wanting to make -- a bed for Hal.

When it was time to get Ben from school, I found Annie napping on her floor.  I put her in her bed after lunch.  When she woke up, she told us that Hal had gotten in her bed so she and all her friends moved to the floor.

 Fall soccer games started a couple of weeks ago.  He is still playing for the Predators but there are only four players from the spring/summer team.  Brian and Aiden moved up to U12.  Tonight was Ben's 4th game this season.  They are undefeated.  Ben has scored at least two goals in each game.  He is #11 on the blue team.
